How to Share Location on iPhone

On your iPhone, you can easily share your location with anyone using the Find My app. There are other methods as well which we will discuss in this guide. To use these methods, you must first turn on the Share My Location on your phone. Let’s dive right in to see how you can do that. The steps in this article were taken on iOS 15.3.1.

Turn on “Share My Location”

Turning on Share My Location in your privacy settings is necessary to be able to share your location with someone on your iPhone. It gives your iPhone permission to use this feature.

1. Open to the Settings app.

   

2. Scroll down and tap on Privacy.

   

3. In the Privacy section, tap on Location Services.
   

   

4. Make sure Location Services is enabled.

   

5. Tap Share My Location to go to the “Find My” section.

   

6. In the “Find My” section, enable Share My Location.

   

Now that you’ve turned on the Share My Location feature, you’re ready to share your location with your friends and family.

Share your location using the Find My app

The Find My app allows you to share your location with a contact for a set period of time. This app comes built-in with your iPhone.

1. Open your phone’s search bar by swiping from the top, and search for the “Find My” app.

   

2. In the app, tap People.

   

3. Tap Start Sharing Location.

   

4. A window will pop up where you can enter the name or phone number of the person you want to share your location with. Once you’ve selected the contact, tap Send.

   

5. The app will ask you to choose how long you would like to share your location. Select your preferred option and you’re done.

   

Share your location using the Messages app

1. Open the “Messages” app.

   

2. Open any conversation and tap the name of the person at the top.

   

3. Tap Send My Current Location to instantly share your current location on the map or Share My Location and select a duration for sharing your location.

   

Share your location using the Contacts App

1. Tap Contacts.

   

2. Tap a contact you want to share your location with.

   

3. Scroll down and tap Share My Location.

   

4. Choose how long you want the contact to be able to see your location.

   

Share your location using Google Maps

1. Open the “Google Maps” app.

   

2. Tap the blue icon on the map and a list of options will appear on the screen.

   

3. Tap Share Your Location.
   

   

4. Select the length of time you want your location to be visible for and then tap the people you want to share your location with.

   

5. Once you’ve selected the people you want to share your location with, tap Share.

   

Share Your location using Apple Maps

1. Open the Maps app.
   

   

2. Tap the blue icon on the map to get more details about your location.

   

3. Under “My Location”, select Share.

   

4. You can either choose the contact you want to share your location with or select the app through which you want to send your location to someone.
